Welcome to our barn.

In 1999, we bought 8 acres of woodland and John drew up detailed plans for a traditional oak timber-frame barn. The following year, we began digging the foundations by hand.

Using stone from local quarries, we spent a slow 18 months building the foundations and plinth. Both of us temporarily gave up work to complete the task.

In 2002, we bought the oak timber resulting from a thinning of the neighbouring woodland. We milled it on site with a mobile saw, then spent a memorable summer timber-framing.

Only 10 months after the 100-year-old oaks had been felled, we were raising our barn. See our latest development here.
